Analysis of Phonological Patterns and Alliteration in the Poetry of Sepideh Kashani

Abstract :
Phonological patterns and alliteration are among the most significant elements of the internal music of poetry, playing a vital role in highlighting meaning, conveying emotions, and enhancing the expressive power of poetic language. Sepideh Kashani, one of the distinguished poets of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense, skillfully employed the phonological potential of the Persian language to communicate religious, revolutionary, and epic concepts with artistic elegance and emotional depth. The present study aims to analyze the phonological patterns and manifestations of alliteration in Sepideh Kashani’s poetry and to examine their role in shaping the internal music of her poems and reinforcing their semantic layers. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on library research. The poet’s collected works were analyzed in terms of sound repetition, phonemic harmony, consonance, vowel patterns, and the aesthetic functions of phonological devices. The findings indicate that Sepideh Kashani deliberately employs the repetition of similar phonemes, consonants, and vowels not only to create rhythm and phonetic cohesion but also to evoke concepts such as perseverance, self-sacrifice, spirituality, heroism, sorrow, and hope. Furthermore, her conscious selection of phonemes in accordance with the emotional and semantic atmosphere of each poem enhances imagery, intensifies emotional impact, and strengthens the structural coherence of her poetic discourse. Overall, phonological patterns and alliteration in Sepideh Kashani’s poetry function not merely as ornamental literary devices but as semantic and stylistic instruments that play a fundamental role in conveying the poet’s religious, social, and epic messages.
